We use the Eduroam wireless network<\/a> at the University of Kent<\/a>. There’s various guides for getting it working on Linux, but I thought I’d try on FreeBSD. It’s pretty simple.<\/p>\n

First create \/etc\/wpa_supplicant.conf<\/code> with the following content:<\/p>\n

network={
\nssid=\"eduroam\"
\nproto=WPA WPA2
\nkey_mgmt=WPA-EAP
\neap=PEAP
\ngroup=TKIP
\nidentity=\"tdb@kent.ac.uk\"
\npassword=\"YourPassword\"
\n}<\/code><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Then add the following to \/etc\/rc.conf<\/code>:<\/p>\n

ifconfig_ath0=\"WPA DHCP\"<\/code><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Replacing ath0<\/code> with your wireless adapter if it’s different.<\/p>\n

Then start it up as follows (or reboot):<\/p>\n

# \/etc\/rc.d\/netif start<\/code><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You can use ifconfig<\/code> to confirm the link is up, and ping<\/code> to test.<\/p>\n
